Privacy Policy

The short version: We collect what you send us when you get in touch or book a tour, and that's it. We don't run Google Analytics, advertising pixels, or any other tracking on this site. We don't sell your information to anyone, and we never will.
Who We Are
Sitka Sunshine Kayaks is a small, locally owned kayak tour business in Sitka, Alaska, owned and operated by Patrick Swanson. This policy covers the website at sitkasunshinekayaks.com.
What You Give Us
If you fill out the contact form, we get your name, email address, your phone number if you choose to add it, which tour you're asking about, and whatever you write in the message. Only your name and email are required.
If you book a tour, your booking and payment go through FareHarbor, our booking system. FareHarbor collects what it needs to take the reservation and process payment. Your card number never touches this website - it goes straight to FareHarbor.
If you call or text us, we have your phone number the same way anyone does when you call them.
What Gets Collected Automatically
One thing happens in the background on this site, and we'd rather just tell you what it is.
FareHarbor - runs the "Book Now" buttons
Saves an ID number in your browser so your booking cart isn't lost if you navigate away. It loads on every page, not only when you click Book.
That's the only one. Everything else this page needs, including the fonts and images, is served from our own website, so no outside company sees you reading it.
What We Don't Do
- No Google Analytics or any other analytics package
- No Facebook pixel, no advertising or retargeting trackers
- No cookies of our own
- No fonts, scripts, or images loaded from Google or anyone else
- We don't sell, rent, or trade your information
- We don't add you to a mailing list because you contacted us
Cookies
This website doesn't set any cookies of its own. The FareHarbor booking system stores one ID number in your browser's local storage so it can hold your cart, as described above. You can clear it any time through your browser's settings for clearing site data, and blocking it won't stop you browsing the site - though it may affect the booking window.
Who Else Sees Your Information
Only the companies that make the website work, and only for that purpose:
- FareHarbor - bookings and payment (their privacy policy)
- Our web host - keeps the site online
We'll also share information if the law requires it. That's the whole list.
How Long We Keep It
We keep tour inquiries and booking records for as long as it's useful to run the business - to answer follow-up questions, sort out a booking, and keep our own records straight. We don't run an automatic deletion schedule. If you want us to delete your inquiry, email us and we'll take care of it.
Your Choices
Email us at ssunshine99835@gmail.com and we'll tell you what we have about you, correct it, or delete it. You don't need to give a reason, and we'll respond as quickly as we can. We're a one-person operation, so give us a few days.
Booking records held inside FareHarbor are also covered by their privacy policy, linked above.
Children
This website isn't aimed at children, and we don't knowingly collect information online from anyone under 13. Tour bookings are made by an adult. Kids paddle with us all the time - a grown-up just does the booking.
Changes
If we change this policy, we'll update the date at the top of this page. If we ever start using analytics or advertising tools, we'll say so here first.
